workers comp medical bills was sent to collections on credit report how do i fix that?
after my accident i hired an atty to handle medical bills etc the case was just closed i got my settlement workers comp should be paying medical bills but bills have been sent to MY credit report as collections i have tried to contact credit agencies but they say they cant take it off please help we are trying to buy a house and these bills are keeping us from it
I forgot to mention that the lawyers collected all medical bills told us not to respond to them sd that they had to handle it. This has only been one year in the making also the medical bills were supposed to be taking care of by the ins company them selves

Apparently you were in a WC dispute case for quite some time? The health care providers don’t care – they rendered service to you, expect to be paid and will not wait months for you to pursue legal action. Perhaps you can negotiate “pay for delete” deals with the collection agencies.
Call your lawyer back.
Is the workers’ comp insurance paying the medical providers directly or is that included in your settlement check?
If the medical bills are included in the check coming to you, negotiate a pay for delete — you pay the bill and the item gets deleted from your credit file.
However, if the funds are going to be paid directly to the medical providers, you will have to convince them to get the collection agencies to remove the derogatory items. You might want to check with your attorney for assistance in this.
I agree. Call your lawyer back. My blog has information on how to
find a qualified lawyer quickly.
Call the providers… demand they provide information to the credit
reporting agencies that the billing is in ERROR… in most states
it is illegal to bill an IW for treatment to a industrial injury.
You should not be billed in the first place, however, with computer
generated billing, and inadequacy in the Dr’s offices…it happens.
Your atty won’t be able to do anything about the credit
agencies..you have to do that. And this is not likely to be taken
care of any time soon. YOu can write the 3 majors/credit agencies,
dispute the report contents, and they should not be providing that
info until the disputes are resolved. A letter from your atty to
the lenders you are trying to get a mortgage from may or may not
help at this point.
