An impairment rating is given when you have had an injury to some part of your body.
The number given is based on the ability or inability to do whatever the injured area was supposed to do if totally uninjured. The tables are based on years of documentation.
The 5% rating means that you have a 5% permanent injury. 5% of 100%
Ratings are very complex, more so than what can be described here.
An impairment indicates a reduced earning capacity, or ability to
compete in the open labor market. PPD ratings DO NOT mean you are
“disabled”… or “impaired” for that matter. It’s all about
earnings and ability to perform gainful employment. Talk to your
Doctor about your rating. And in the future… PLEASE POST YOUR
STATE.
