They ARE rolling in their graves to say the least.

  2. DC

They weren’t protesting against taxes, they were protesting taxing without representation.

There was a group in Britain came up with who to tax and what to tax. Every part of Britain had a representative (exactly like our Congress) that got to put in their say. Well the colonies taxes kept going up and up, but the King wouldn’t allow them to have that representative. That is all they wanted, was to be treated fairly.

  3. I posted the SAME EXACT LIST just the other day. Glad you saw it, read it, and agree that our forefathers must be rolling over in their graves at how much Americans are being taxed.

  4. They wouldn’t have much to say about it. They were concerned with taxation without representation. Since we elect all of our officials and they vote on tax laws, the only thing I think they would say, is vote for someone else.

  5. You forgot a couple of taxes Congress included in passing the housing bill

  6. They’d feel the same as I do. It’s a contrived list made up partly of real taxes and partly of made-up junk and a good pile of duplicates thrown in for good measure. In the end they’d be OK with it, since their goal had been achieved, i.e. REPRESENTATION for the people in the halls of power.

Please go back and read your US history. The colonists were NOT against taxes. The were against taxation without representation and the application of punitive taxes in retaliation for their demanding representation at Parliament.

If old King George had pulled his head out of his butt, we very well could be singing “God Save the Queen” at Football (Soccer) matches, drinking warmish beer and driving on the left side of the road today!

  7. Our forefather’s were taxed pretty well themselves.Even a Poll tax. The issue was without representation of the tea tax. However I think they would challenge their government over these.

  8. Republicans seem to think that this country can function without tax revenue.

If there were no taxes, aside from the fact that we would have been invaded long ago and wouldn’t even be a nation, people would just take all of your stuff anyway because there would be no one to stop them.

I know, I know the Libertarians say that enough taxes to support an army and the police is enough. But they would still be complaining that taxes were too high and soon we would have sub-minimum wage soldiers and cops who would resort to corruption to feed their families.

And of course you would have to pay a toll to leave your driveway. The water company would be jacking the price of water like the oil companies are now. There would be NO government whatsoever because there would be no way to pay for it, so we would be governed by war lords like a third world country.

No taxes is unrealistic Republican pablum that Rush has repeated so many times that the drones have come to believe it is actually possible.

Try using your brain for about ten minutes instead of letting Hannity do your thinking for you.

It will hurt at first, but you will get used to it.

  9. So, what’s your suggestion? That we drink contaminated water, bury our own garbage, never fix roads, close all libraries, fire the army etc.

The tea-partiers didn’t have a problem with the fact that Britain taxed them, but that the money wasn’t used toward the public good of the colonies. They didn’t offer protection nor regulate them on a municipal level.

I do agree that the ammount of types of taxes is rediculous. There should be a flat tax of some sort and only additional taxes for a few select things.

I say, tripple taxes! You’d be amazed at how much better life would be, and how much less everything else would cost.

  10. It would be typical for those begging for less government
involvement in our lives, demanding lower taxes and screaming for
“revolution”… only to come running to that very same government
to provide benefits for any/every disaster they face, natural or
man made. You don’t want “uncle sam” involved in any aspect of your
lives… EXCEPT when you need someone to pay the bills. Make up
    your mind.
