On workers comp. I filed chapter 7, can I lose my settlement since I filed?

Today my wife and I had our meeting with the Trustee and he said that I needed to file section C for my workers comp claim and make it exempt so when it comes time for my settlement it wont be taken away. Has anyone had to deal with this before? because I have no idea how to amend the petition. I called the bankruptcy court but they said they could not give any information. Can somebody help me? I am residing in California. First person to give me the correct and true answer gets 10 bucks via Paypal!!

  1. You need to be working with a bankruptcy attorney to avoid losing your workers comp.

  2. Go to the library… and pay your 10 bucks. There are also forms,
and instructions, and all kinds of information on the internet…
you are representing yourself in this BK action… do the work
required, that doesn’t include asking for others to do it for you
on a message board. Or, as Tico said…you need to be working with
an attorney handling BK, or you could lose other dollars here. WC
benefits, settlemens/awards cannot be attached in any way other
than child support due. BUT…once you deposit those dollars in a
bank account, they are fair game.
