  2. LOOK IN THE YELLOW PAGES AND CALL AROUND TO ALL THE DIFFERENT LAWYERS AND SEE IF ANY CAN HELP YOUR SITUATION, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND A LAWYER TO HELP YOU FIGHT FOR YOUR RETIREMENT DISABILITY.

  3. Being ”disabled” under a WC claim is not the same as being
”disabled” under the federal retirement system. BIG difference.

That lawyer should be able to get it all taken care of but it’s going to cost you a lot. Better less than none I guess.

  5. Hi Faith, Is there a postal workers’ union who can help answer your questions?

  6. You were denied retirement my guess is because they believe you might improve and be able to work again or that retirement is higher than workman’s comp. You might not have paid enough into retirement disability to be eligible. Just because they denied you retirement does not mean they are denying you workman’s comp.

Call and ask for the reason for your denial of disability retirement. You are entitled to know why. I am surprised it is not in the letter you received.

  7. I’d take that letter to the nearest welfare office & apply for all the aid you can get for yourself & your 3 children. Get started NOW – BEFORE YoU RUN OUT OF MONEY! The worker @ the interview will have the ability to get some answers for you. Have you called the people who sent you the letter? They should be able to shed some light on their intentions.

You may need the aid of an attorney for low or no fee until your case is solved. Call your local financial aid office or call the state bar to find out the names of attorney who special in Workman’s comp cases. If you have been dubbed permanently disabled, there should have already been a hearing & the judge would have made a decision on how much monetary settlement money you are entitled to receive.

Forget the internet – Start using the telephone & call all the agencies involved or go into their offices & raise a stink. They should be explaining this stuff to you. I wish you all the best & don’t be ashamed to accept food stamps & welfare money. You paid into it & now it’s time to take some back for your kids.

I remember calling workman’s comp & crying because I was so confused & desperate. I finally got a supervisor who told me what was really going on & what to expect. Some it it was true & some of it was bull. I got a big check a few weeks later & that’s when they stopped sending me my regular disability checks. They have to wait for all the medical reviews & documents to come in.

    Additional:
Keep going to the doctor they assigned you to. Share your concerns with him/her & let them know about your runaround. It’s possible they can also make some phone calls for you. If not, then they can at least document your stress levels & pass that onto your attorney to assist your case when it goes to trial.
