Medical costs.
Disability while out of work.
The only other money you’ll get is if you are determined to have a permanent impairment.
You’ll not know until your done with your physical therapy, doctor visits and such, this will take about 4-6 months. But lets say in this case that you are done treating and no more visits from the doctor, your decleared medically stationary.
Once your decleared medically stationary your doctor will do some testing to see your range of motion (ROM), strength and such and will give you a rating for permanant partial disability/impairment (PPD/PPI)
So if you got lets say 10% impairment than your adjuster will take that figure and use a formula that is provided by the state. Remember each state is different so number vary but I’ll give you a number to look at using 10%.
So if it’s 10% than you could get anywhere between $10,000-$18,000 for 10%. Don’t fake the final exam because the doctor will see through this or the adjuster will request a third party doctor to look at PPD/PPI percentages.
The adjuster will send you an offer based on the state rules. If you don’t like the figure you can request a hearing and let the state decide on your money owed to you. This is risky for both parties because it could be more money, which is good for you, or less money, bad for you.
You are also entitled to an attorney, but remember they take 25% of any settlement or PPD/PPD award you get. But if you have no problems with your adjuster so far, I wouldn’t get one until you really need it. Of course you just started your healing process and all this is just an example of how the system works.
Happy healing
~~Every state has their own rate for w.c. body parts. For instance, losing an eye in California would compensate a person about 40 percent less than one would get if hurt in Oregon. So you would have to know your state’s ratings.
Then it all is up to how well the surgery resolves the problem, the mobility of the area and functioning after therapy, etc. So each and every persons is different, but the real difference lies in which state you were hurt in.
Best of luck in recovering!~~
