How can I find a competent and reputable Workman’s Comp lawyer?
My boyfriend is looking for a workman’s comp lawyer. Unfortunately, all the listed ones on the home page are sensationalist claims of success, and big money. I need a guy who really knows his stuff, has a good success rate and preferably doesn’t charge an arm and a leg until he wins. Any referrals, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
I am sorry, I am in California, Los Angeles area.
Unfortunately you have not stated the country and region where your friend resides. If it is South India i will be able to assist him.
IF he has a good case, ALL of them will take 30% of the win, and nothing if they lose. If no one will take this on contingency, he doesn’t have a good case.
Something to keep in mind – getting a lawyer slows down the claim. It’s really not useful at all, unless the claim has been flat out denied – if the insurance company is accepting the claim, well, payout is based on state law, so all that happens if you hire a lawyer, is that you have to pay them 30%.
Referrals won’t do you any good, unless you state which state you live in – attorneys are usually not licensed to practice law in multiple states. My baby sister happens to be a GREAT hot shot lawyer – if you’re in the AKRON OH area, and want her contact info, send me an email. Otherwise, start asking around to friends & family.
Call your States Independent agents association office.
They usually have on (either staff or referral) competent attorneys specializing in WC claims.
I have attached a link to a really good site. It is much like a regular search engine but it is full of lawyers. I would look over a dozen or so lawyer websites, read each one carefully and make a decision based upon the information you read…
Hi Friend,
Hiring a lawyer for minor legal problems can be expensive, but there are websites like LawGuru, FindLaw and other places where you can get free legal advice. I found this website useful – http://www.uelp.org/freelegal.html
