Does anyone know if a drug test is necessary to qualify for Workman’s Comp or disability?

I was injured at work and taken to the hospital. I was told that I would need to go through a workman’s comp doctor, but a few weeks ago someone had slipped something into my drink at a bar. I was just worried that I might fail a drug test if given one, and I don’t want to risk losing my job.

  1. tro

the dr that workmen’s comp has doing the exam may or may not require drug testing
my question is if you were out on disability, what were you doing in a bar?

Based on what I know as a previous business owner the drug tests are administered at the time of the accident. You were probably drug tested at the hospital. If someone slipped something into your cocktail at a bar I hope you brought this to the attention of the bar the local law enforcement.
As for the workman’s comp Dr. unless you have a history of drug use there is no reason for them to drug test you for illegal drugs, these are Dr’s that the company u work for may use for a second opinion and that has more experience w/workman’s comp rules

  4. Depends on what state you are in.

  5. Anytime you are injured at work a drug screen is done when you go to the hospital or doctor. If you test positive, your employer will know and likely fire you. Also work comp will not pay if you were under the influence.
