Can you move out of state while on Workman compensation?

I’m in need to move out of state for school. However, I’m stuck in my current state because I’m on workman comp for carpel tunnel. Am I allowed to get a referral to a Dr in a different state to be with family and still receive my check from my company?

  1. Of course you can move.

  2. You can move where ever you like. The difficulty is, finding a Dr
in your new home state to accpet you as a patient. Getting medical
care out of state is extremely difficult, the new Dr is not bound
by your state WC laws, and there are enough problems with their own
state mandates. Nor are they bound by your state medical fee
schedules. If you have to return to your current state for
litigation/hearings it would be out of your pocket. Returning for
medical evaluation requested by the ER/IC would be paid by them. If
you are well enough to go to school, why should your employer
continue to pay you wage loss…? If you can attend classes, you
can perform modified work, or light duty. If your employer offers
that, your wage replacement will stop as you are voluntarily
removing yourself from the labor market in your current state. It
would be in your best intersts to discuss your options with an
attorney…not a message board. THere is no legal advice here.
