where can I go for legal gelp,(not an attorney)for a case that has already been started?A workers comp. case?
I have an open workers comp. case that was about to be settled but my attorney sent me the settlement contracts that state that I have to pay the remaining medical bills. No attorney wants to take my case or give me any kind of advice because of how far along the case is.WHO CAN HELP ME????
Call your local (usually county) bar association.
Which state is your work comp in???
In California, they have a representative (called the Information & Assistance officer) at the Worker’s Comp Appeals Board. http://www.dir.ca.gov/DWC/IandA.html
They basically work for the State and the judge.
They not only function as a resource and provide info, but they also review cases, make sure your rights are protected, and many times act as a mediator. In fact, they are more like assistants to the judge.
Good luck
There are few times an IW would be held liable for any treatment
fees. Be sure you fully understand that settlement document, and if
you are not satisfied with the content, don’t agree. You can’t be
forced to accept a lump sum payment to close out your claim. If you
have need for additonal treatment…do not close out your claim.
Thanks a lot for the post.Really thank you! Want more.
I need to say that this article could be the most relevant post
I’ve ever read and saw. It is an excellent aid to everybody who’s
searching for this info.
This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give
it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value
of providing a quality resource for free. It?s the old what goes
around comes around routine. Did you acquired lots of links and I
see lots of trackbacks??
