Is it too late for the african americans to recieve compensation reparations?
When Czar Alexander II freed the serfs from their imprisonment, disenfranchisement, and exploitation to a large degree by outlawing serfdom as a free source of labor the government of Russia as well as aristocratic landowners (remember this is before the country was a collection of soviets working for the Communist cause) gave them large loans and land/ positions in the cities as industrial workers. When Abraham Lincoln signed into law the Emancipation Proclamation the Africans (At this point African-Americans) were freed; but with nowhere to go and nothing much to do.
The Native Americans got ‘em. The Japanese got ‘em. The Jews got ‘em. The slaves got nothing.
The slaves are dead as are the slave owners. Move on.
Also, my family wasn’t even in this country during that era so it has nothing to do with us.

You wasn’t a slave, and I never owned a slave, I don’t owe you anything. My grandparents might have maybe owed your grandparents something but you can get a job.

Most of these people don’t get it. They don’t see the direct correlation between the past and the present. Reparations are DUE to the AA community to correct past institutionalized and lawful racism because those acts affected the AA community negatively and those effects continue to this day. Only a fool would think this is only about slavery, those idiots don’t realize the civil rights laws were passed as recently as the 60′s for a reason.

got what? nothing. we never asked for reparation and we have never received reparations. are you just another one who thinks the government is throwing money at us just for being native? far from it. the government doesn’t give us anything free and in fact is still taking from us.

No it’s not too late the white did get reperations similaer to what the Czar did it was called the homestead act , the native Americans got land and casinos and tax free environs, the Japanese got 40000 bucks a piece , the Jews got isreal , blacks were forced into ghettos or forced into southern serfdom up until 40 yrs ago we were still indentured servants Do you know why? Because whites don’t see us as humans with thoughts or feelings anger regret or happiness they see us as animals and they will never give you anything because they think you should feel blessed to be around them instead of the truth as we’ve been cursed that’s why you can’t depend on them and they will never give you anything it must be taken oh and again why do my people in africa starve COLONIALISM and racsism so we are enslaved at home and in this country that’s twice I would be thankful if whites had learned to take care of their own lands and not go around the world spreading death disease poverty and holocaust and u still haven’t learned

Good attempt at using big words to sound like you know what you are talking about. Your statement “The Native Americans got ‘em.” shows your ignorance. Please inform the rest of us what exactly Native Americans got. Maybe you think along the same lines as Agilechain1. He seems to be about as informed as you are with his statement “the native Americans got land and casinos and tax free environs”.
Maybe the two of you should get together and take a field trip to a reservation. Is this the sort of land that you desire to own? Most reservations are barren, infertile land that NO ONE wanted. We were FORCED there in hopes that we would die off. As for casinos, how many tribal nations do you think own casinos? It is far less than the number of casinos owned by white enterprises. And as for tax free environs, EVERYONE, regardless of race, is responsible to pay federal taxes. Those who live on reservations, which by the way is less than 30% of the Native American population, are only exempt from state taxes. Native American casinos and bingo halls pay money, in addition to federal taxes, to the state in which they are located just to have gaming. This is established through gaming compacts.
Educate yourself a little before you run your mouth about something you know nothing about. Your ignorant attempt to say that Native Americans receive reparations does nothing for your cause. All it does is make you look stupid.

And one more thing about russian slavery abolishment. Where did you hear about large loans and land? Maybe some folks got it for a show, but most of the people did not know what to do, they were extremely poor, had nothing, and some even had to pay to their owner for freedom. Nobody had fancy life after they were freed.
And really, move on! How many years should pass so we all forget about shameful past? Every country has something shameful, but you americans make a really big deal out of slavery. We live in today, and there is no slavery, we all have equal rights, but many do not want to use them.
If you are an african american, maybe you should be thankful that you live in USA today, and not starving in Africa? Slaves suffered, but today you have everything to be happy!
Native Americans got what? Are you counting reservations as reparations from the dominant culture, which includes black Americans? The whole country was ours. History records that every black head of household who applied was granted 40 acres and a mule after the civil war was over. What was done for our ancestors at the end of the NDN wars? Boarding schools? What a boon they were! You should study American history a bit more before you start going on about what we got from America.
Edit; In response to 1 poster, we were not “given” casinos. The tribes who have them went deeply into debt financing these at high interest to investor corporations in order to build them on rez land. The Amer. govt invested nothing in these business ventures.
Native Americans weren’t given any reparations, hell we weren’t even granted citizenship till after WW2.
Slaves we’re freed and granted citizenship as soon as the Civil War was over. Yes the next 40years were tough for them. But at least they had the ability to pursue happiness.
