  1. The reason taxes are witheld from your wages is because people
wouldn’t have the money to pay otherwise. The reason health ins,
and other types of insurance is purchased is to protect you in the
event of financial exposure…where you would not have the money to
cover your liabilities. ie. disability ins would pay your house
payments. People have a tendency to live beyond their means…
paycheck to paycheck. When there is exposure to financial liability
due to injury or illness…there is no money to pay the bills.
People in general cannot be trusted to take care of
themselves…the “save for a rainy day” has come to haunt you.
There is no law that covers your current problem. The resistance to
people buying insurance is the presumption you are paying for
something, and getting nothing in return. Now you see what you
would have received had to taken the steps to take care of yourself
    on this “rainy day”.

  2. There is no such law. Call your mortgage company and explain the situation and try to work something out.

The mortgage should be you primary bill to pay, then utilities and food. Let the credit cards go if you don’t have enough money.

  3. No.

That’s why you need to plan for emergencies like this and get yourself protected with insurances like health insurance for when you get sick, car insurance for cars, life insurance for death, homeowner insurance for your house, renter insurance for if you rent, short term disability income insurance for when you are in your situation now for one year and long term disability income insurance for when you are in your situation now until you are 65, mortgage insurance for when you are in your situation now, long term care insurance for when you become disable until you are die, etc.
