work comp settlement question?

Wednesday, August 25, 2010
By WcrAdmin

I got a letter in the mail today saying that work comp wants to settle for an injury I had about a year ago. The doctor is releasing me and I have a 2% permanent injury in my knee. Should I take the settlement or talk to a lawyer?

  2. Settlements are based upon the percentage of loss to the body as a whole but it would depend on what they are offering and does it include provisions for future medical if you need it, if you are satisfied with the amount and do not anticipate the need of any future medical go for the settlement and save the percentage the lawyer would take which is usually from 25 to 40 percent.~

  3. Well that 2% permanent impairment is yours to begin with, there’s nothing to settle. You are entitled to this money. If you don’t like it you can request a hearing to see if you will get more money out of it. This amount is not a settlement offer.
