Sue over work injury?

I was recently injured while volunteering with a non-profit. They had me sign a paper saying I would sign, etc before I started working. But they knowingly injured OSHA guidelines. Is there anything I can do?

  1. If you can prove they knowingly violated OSHA guidelines you might get your medical bills paid. Really would depend on just what was in the paper you signed. If you absolved them of any responsibility you have no recourse.

  2. STATE please… WHAT STATE are you in? Regardless of what you may
    have signed, you CANNOT sign away any legal rights you may have
    under your states Workers Compensation Act. And, in general, your
    “employer” is always liable for work related injury/illness. OSHA
    has much different reporting requirements vs WC. OSHA does not pay
    benefits, WC does. OSHA has some reporting mandates where there are
    time loss injuries, WC is always notified of injury that requires
    more than first aid treatment. You haven’t provided enough
    information to tell what your situation may be. OSHA mandates
    pertain to “employers”… you were participating with a
    “non-profit”… OSHA may or may not have any jurisdiction here.
    Your agencies are mixed up…
