I do not qualify to be a military nurse because I had a brain injury as a child. I heard that you can be a civilian nurse in a military hospital, but is this true? Thanks :)

Sure you can. You won’t be working in Iraq or Afghanistan, but you can still work in a military or VA hospital.

  5. Not only can you do this and be paid very little money…You could go work in a VA hospital and write your own ticket. the VA pays nurses great!

  6. Yes. A lot of the nurses at military hospitals are civilians, as long as you are licensed by the state. Like others said, you won’t be at a hospital in a combat zone, but you can work at Military treatment Facilities and VA Hospitals. In fact, the last time I was in the ER on base a majority of the staff were civilians
