I was given a perm partial disability rating of 5% from work related injury to knee. How do I figure payment?

I can no longer drive a truck, which was my living (CDL A license) due to a work related injury to my left knee. I have been given a 5% permanent partial disability rating. How can I calculate monetary compensation I should receive?

  1. Didn’t you have a lawyer handling this for you? Go to the offices of the workers’ comp board and ask to speak to a case worker. They can tell you.

Were you given this rating by an IME or a AME?

  2. CDL A, being California…? If that is the case, your PPD
indemtnity is based on a predetermined number of weeks for each 1%
of the rating. For you, 3 weeks or 15 weeks of PDA/s Permenant
Disability Advances. You can’t force a lump sum payment, but you
may be offered one, The basis is about $260/week or in the
neighborhood of $3900 +/-. Depending on the factors surrounding
your injury/claim. 5% PD/WPI doesn’t seem like enough impairment to
a knee to prevent you from your pre injury employment. Did a doctor
say you cannot return to your job.?
