My daughters father had a back injury at work, and I know he filed a lawsuit, how do I find out. I can’t ask him because he has skipped out on us, but people around town has seen him with new cars and lots of money. I know he also does illegal things.

  1. IF you find the answer to your question to finding out IF there was
a resolution to the WC claim, you will NOT find the dollar amount
of the settlement. And, IF there was a C&R/lump sum payment to
close the claim… that wouldn’t be noted on the claim information
either. The only way you are going to see any money from that comp
claim, is IF there was any past due child support due you.
Otherwise, if you were never married to the man…you have no legal
right to any of the money. If you suspect, or have proof he has
commmiteed a fraud in getting that settlement, the insurance
company who paid the bills would be very interested, and COULD go
back after him, even though the claim is settled.

  2. Check the local courthouse. Most have a computerized party index that is searchable. Some court systems even have the information on line.
