Did work fire me for good cause?

I worked for this company for three years.
I was injured on the job.
Filed Workers Comp.
I was in a lot of pain due to the injury.
I asked them if I could have a shorter work load because of the pain.
They told me no and fired me.

do you think that was very fair for them to fire me seeing that it was a work injury that caused my pain?

Is there anything I can do

  1. Yes, Call your state department of labor and ask for the office that deals with Fair Employment Practices (and/or the worker’s compensation office). Both should help you.

  2. In nearly all states it is illegal for an employer to terminate you
for filing a claim for WC benefits, receiving an award/settlement
in a comp claim, or because you cannot perform the job duties as
defined under limited restrictions due to your injury. Filing the
claim however does not provide job protection. Only FMLA would
provide job protection up to 12 weeks per year. Talk to an attorney
handling primarily WC claims… comp laws are state specific, and
    vary widely.
