Can I go into the Army with a slight injury?
I am very physically fit, I work out a lot with weights and running. But I do have something wrong with both my wrists, from previous injuries, snowboarding, ect. The only two exercises I cannot do, are “flat handed pushups,” and “tricep dips”. I can’t put any serious pressure on my wrists, other wise they will be hurtin for months, so I can do push up with my knuckles down, But I was wondering if I could make through basic training and infantry training with these injuries?
then i would say no dude, cause i had a boxers fracture that was healed and then joined and it bothered me and we did pushups till i had blisters on my palms, but i heard its easier now but i can garuntee that you are going to do a ton of stuff thats going to put pressure on your wrists. lol from monkey bars to fighting to pushups to holding weapons on 15k road march to pimp slapping hoes. lol
i have the same problem. within a couple of months i will be starting my basic training in the royal marines and i have a problem with my wrists from weight training, just like you i cant do flat handed push ups only on my knuckles.
im going to the doctors to get them looked at, if its nothing serious then i should be fine, if not then im screwed.
you wouldnt even make it through MEPS with that kind of injury. doing push-ups is a big part of the military and the pt. you have to do push-ups for the APFT. my husband has to do a minimum of 50 just to pass. if you cant do at least that you would never make it. sorry
No one on a message board can predict whether or not you can finish
boot camp. Nor can anyone tell you if you would even be accepted.
Go to the recruiting office of your choice of service branch and
discuss your options with an officer there. That is how you get the
answer to your question…from someone with the authority to say
‘yes’ or ‘no’.
No, no, and 1000 times no. Just being a regular person, you notice that your wrist problem interferes with normal life. Now imagine that you’re in a situation where you’re forced to use your body more and you can’t just stop because of the pain.
What’s going to end up happening is you’re either going to be disqualified from enlisting right away (best option), or they’ll let you enlist and you’ll end up permanently ruining your wrists. Once this happens, you won’t be covered medically by the military because it’s a pre-existing condition.
