  1. Sadly, WalMart is KNOWN for that type of behavior. Sad isn’t it?

  5. That’s funny, my wife has worked for them for almost 11 years and is always complaining because they are paying way too much in workers comp. because they don’t investigate the cases. I don’t believe you, sorry.

  6. A huge sign fell on my aunt in Bowie Texas critically injuring her. She never received any money from Walmart to cover her hospitalization and surgery. They tried to sue them for it, and they have succeeded in keeping it tied up in court until the statute of limitations is up.

  7. Walmart has been boycotted so many times for so many reasons. Face it.. its not going anywhere anytime soon. People love the prices and convience, they don’t think about the employees benefits or wages. But I would never work for them, I was told they usually won’t even give people 40hrs so they don’t have to be considered as full-time.

  8. um they can’t make you go back on the job if your doctor says you have to be out…
consider yourself lucky… i was diagnosed with cancer and my company(not Walmart) ultimately not only discriminated against me by saying I violated safety guidelines but then wrongfully terminated me because they said i was being unsafe when i reported an injury that no one witnessed and i sought no medical attention for the injury and missed no worktime from the injury… they have signs all over the facility stating please report all injuries, no matter how small they may be…

Mrs. Nich I worked for Walmart a while ago and they did not want their associates to work OVER 40 hours because they did not want to pay OT unnecessarily…
BUT I was classified as a FT associate with them…

Outdoors Kid… i can tell you when I worked for Walmart, they not only did NOT pay under minimum wage, they usually started out paying new associates ABOVE minimum wage… in fact, that is why I started working for them, because the union I was working for at the time was barely paying above minimum wage and Walmart was paying more than a dollar ABOVE minimum wage…

Grand Poohbah… I would have to say that the situation that happened was strictly because of who you were working for as far as the people above you working there, NOT Walmart in general…

  9. Screw WalMart, The pay ppl under minimum wage, everything’s dirty, they help shut down family owned businesses that the community loved, and they hire at least 100 illigal immigrants every day.

  10. That’s the reason Unions were invented! Support your Local Unions! Buy American!

  11. I worked there about 8 years ago…I fell on a wet floor (with no signs up) and sprained my ankle. They wrote up a report, asked if I wanted to go to the hospital. I said I only wanted to go home…they said, “No, we didn’t ask you that. You have two choices…hospital or back to work.”

I told them I couldn’t afford the hospital if the company didn’t pay for it…I couldn’t work at my register without a chair…I was refused a chair and told to stand on my good leg or quit.

I quit that night. I haven’t set foot in one of their stores since.

I was better off. The following week I was offered an assistant managers job at a record store.

  12. I have been studying the devistating behavior of this entity for over 15 years now. I personally rank them with the anti-Christ or Hitler. They are now going into third world countries, where the sweat shops that they use exist, and destroying the land and economy. They care for nothing more than profits. The good news is that there are several sites you can visit that keep up with these greedy BS and are trying to stop the exploitation. Try Wal*Mart Watch. Just type it in and it will bring you ther. The sad thing is that all the things you mentioned are nothing compared to what is going on world wide. They are in every part of the world and workers rights are the last thing on their minds. Last time I was in Costa Rica the people who worked in a wally world owned store were afraid to talk to me because I was trying to write an article about it. They were afraid that they would lose their jobs. I could not even take a picture inside the store. They said it was againtst policy. And the manager would not give me an interview… again, afraid to lose his job. People who worked there seemed afraid of everything since the store had been purchased by Wal-Mart. Also the workers were not allowed to talked to fellow employees outside the store. But in America we don’t resist b/c the prices are low and we too are a greed fueled nation. Did you know that many of the people who work for them are on public aid? So, they say that they help the ecomy but in reality the tax payers are making up for the lack of interest they have in their employees. Please go on line and find out ways you can stop this super power from destroying our planet. And even shoping at another “big box” store like Target is much better than shoping at Wal-Mart.

  13. This is somewhat a perversion of an article in the Wall Street Journal several days ago

The point was if the trucking company AND Walmart paid the employee for the same medical expenses, Walmart (or anyone) should have the right to recovery as the trucking company made the employee whole for the cost.

For instance your employer is self insured and pays your medical expenses for an accident – then you sue the person who caused them for the same expenses – you don’t get to recover TWICE for the same compensatory damages

In my view, the fault here was the attorney for the employee. They should have sued for punitive damages in addition to compensatory damages and them reimbursed Walmart for the compensatory damages recovered
