Question by necromancer mortaneus: Financial aid : Should I get married to my fiance or should I wait?
My fiance and I want to get married very soon… probably next month for sure but I’m worried that she won’t Qualify for financial aid. I can pay for her school but I would have to save up to do so and I don’t want to hold her back. I make 60,000 more or less yearly, this last year was bad due to illness and only made 48,000. I have 2 children from a previous marriage and she has 2 children (never married) and we have one together that on the way here by July. She worked this last year on made only about around 10,000 and right now is on workers comp but they haven’t been paying her since November. she has never gone to college and is working on getting her GED. Thanks

Five dependants are enough to still qualify you for the aid, I believe. Have her contact a financial aid rep at the school of her choice, after she gets that GED (first step) out of the way. The best thing you can do for her is stay positive and encourage her.

  1. If you love her that it can wait merrige can wait, but then again so can school. She could get her GED online. It’s all on how you see it.
