  1. No, at least not in WA state you are not. Once the claim is complete and you have your money you are welcome to do whatever type of occupation you desire. My husband had a back injury filed and settled an L & I claim and then got 50K then the state retrained/educated him to return to a new occupation and they paid for all of the schooling and gas to school all your materials books and everything they would rather pay for your education then pay you to sit on social security disability the rest of your life and we were told once the claim closes you can do whatever you want to do.
