In general, you cannot sue an employer over an injury at work. In exchange for the right to claim workers’ compensation, employees give up their right to sue the employer. However, you may still be able to sue a third party responsible for your injuries, such as the manufacturer of defective equipment or a careless driver who hit you during work. And you may be able to sue your employer itself if it does not have workers’ compensation insurance, or deliberately did something that led to your injuries.
